Scripture:
And now, my sons, listen to me;
those who keep my ways are happy.
Listen to instruction and be wise;
don’t ignore it.
Anyone who listens to me is happy,
watching at my doors every day,
waiting by the posts of my doorway.
For the one who finds me finds life
and obtains favor from the Lord.
Proverbs 8:32-35
Observation: The voice of wisdom provides lessons, but it often provides this overarching wisdom ... listen and obey! Head knowledge of the truth and of right actions are one objective to be achieved, but listening to and following that knowledge is the true source of happiness. We can seek wisdom, but truly listening to that wisdom, learning the nature of the wisdom, and applying it to your life ... this is the road to happiness and favor from the Lord.
Application: I have learned much in the last few years about the will and nature of God. I have learned more about his laws, his methods, and his ways. I don't understand them all, but understanding is likely not the goal. The goal is to listen and obey. The true objective is to find happiness, provided by my father in heaven, by wisely applying his instructions to my life, thoughts, deeds, and work. It is this I seek daily when I want to walk with God ... wise instructions that will guide me in my actions.
Prayer: Lord, again today I ask, may I walk hand in hand with you this day. May I humbly listen to your wise instruction, and follow it through my words and actions. Amen.
