Evidence of God's Love

Scripture: Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Revelation 3:19

Observation: As John provides the rebuke for the church at Laodicia - that they are neither hot nor cold, and proud of their riches - this is the reminder of the value of the rebuke ... God corrects those whom he loves. If God tells Laodicia that they are wrong and need to correct their ways, he does this because he loves them and seeks their well-being.

Application: I know I have been corrected - that I have not loved others well enough and thus am being show that my priorities were wrong - and this is because God loves me. I was arrogant, proud, and self-righteous. I valued position and possessions. These have all been taken from me. I have no pride, no reputation, no position, and no items. I have my daily bread and enough to care for my family. Barely. In this, God has shown me a better way, which I am ready and very willing to follow in the second half of my life.

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for loving me so much that you are willing to correct me. I seek your immediate redemption and path forward. I hope and pray that this season is at a close and there is now a way forward. But I thank you for the correction, which is evidence of your love. I know I am loved by you. May I be a better servant now and forever as a result of your rebuke and discipline. I open the door to you. Please open a door for me. Amen.
