Wisdom is Not Hidden

Scripture:
Does not wisdom call out?
    Does not understanding raise her voice?
At the highest point along the way,
    where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
beside the gate leading into the city,
    at the entrance, she cries aloud:

"To you, O people, I call out;
    I raise my voice to all mankind."

Proverbs 8:1-4

Observation: This chapter begins with Lady Wisdom calling out to all to listen to her. She encourages all to listen to her, and to seek her words and knowledge, for true wisdom is the most valuable thing one can find - more valuable than good silver, pure gold, or fine gems. Wisdom isn't something we have to go hunting for ... Lady Wisdom stands shouting for all to listen to her. She stands at the city gates, and on the hill along the road, raising her voice so she can be easily heard. Wisdom is, in other words, where we are every day, and trying hard to be learned.

Application: The wisdom of God is right here, being offered to me every day. This isn't hidden knowledge. God makes his wisdom known, and all I have to do is listen while I go about my everyday activities.

Yet how often do I actively ignore wisdom? I often do I think "this would be wise to do" and then do not do it? And how many days do I fail to read God's word because I think I have something more pressing to do?

Just today, I see examples of ... how to properly obey instructions, how to avoid making enemies, understanding the role of fasting, and learning the true value of the sabbath. And all I have to do is listen to God to receive this wisdom. He isn't hiding or withholding it.

Prayer: Lord, I desire to seek your wisdom every day, and at all times. May I look for your instruction in all circumstances, every day. Please remind me to listen a lot more, and speak and act a lot less, so I may learn your perfect will. Amen.
