Thinking of the Guilt Offering

Scripture: The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: When any of you commit a trespass and sin unintentionally in any of the holy things of the Lord, you shall bring, as your guilt offering to the Lord, a ram without blemish from the flock, convertible into silver by the sanctuary shekel; it is a guilt offering. Leviticus 5:14-15

Observation: The Lord makes this provision for the people ... a way of seeking peace when they are troubled because they accidentally did something wrong. This 'guilt offering' is one ram or the monetary equivalent, given to the priests for sacrifice.

Application: Despite what I absolutely know was evil persecution against me in the past, I also know I was not perfect as someone given authority over others. I was sometimes harsh, and I made mistakes. The Lord entrusted me with others, and I failed to do well in exhibiting the love of Jesus to them. I did not mean to fail, and I was attacked out of provocation by satan, but I unintentionally made mistakes, and that does bother me.

Today, a quality ram costs $500. Today, I will convert the idea of the guilt-offering ram to money, and give it to the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, today I pray for your peace within my heart. Please forgive me, and permanently place my mind at rest within your love. May the ram I present be found without blemish, and may it be a pleasing aroma to you. Amen.
