Observation: As the psalmist writes about the old miracles and blessings of God, he recounts the parting of the Red Sea in this manner ... that the Lord led the people by a pathway that has previously been impossible to understand or perceive. It was a path through a parted ocean! No one could know such a thing was possible in advance.
Application: I have been thinking about the challenges we all walk through that are part of serving the Lord. There are so many attacks against our church leaders, all of which absorb time, attention, energy, and emotions. They take good people away from doing good work, and hurt them. Why the Lord allows this is a mystery, and I absolutely cannot understand it.
So it is good to know that there have always been great, glorious, awesome, wonderful outcomes produced by the Lord for his people, which cannot be in any way known or understood in advance. If we could understand them, it would diminish the wonder! Instead, it will remain a problem with no perceptible solution until - suddenly - God just takes care it.
This revelation may not make the current situation better, but it provides the hope needed to sustain and anticipate the outcome. It also absolutely removes the burden to solve the problem ourselves, as we can trust that the Lord already know how he will take care of it if we let him.
Prayer: Lord, our hope is in you, not just for our salvation, but also for addressing the pains and burdens and persecutions that come from serving you. Please be with my wife, my pastor, my church family, and me, this day and every day. These problems aren't even as big as an onrushing army. Help all in their weariness, and may we all have strength and faith for this day. Amen.
