Comfort in the Promises

Scripture:
Remember your word to your servant,
for you have given me hope.
My comfort in my suffering is this:
    Your promise preserves my life.

Psalm 119:49-50

Observation: The simple statement of the psalmist is that he clings to the Lord's promises for hope in his current circumstance. Even while the unfaithful all around mock his faith, he does not lose hope in the promises of God.

Application: I was so torn up by bad news yesterday ... I anticipated it, but I was so hopeful that the reality cut me deep. I struggle with my hope. However, I too believe and trust in God's promises. I firmly believe he will not forsake my family, and he will provide for us. I will never lose that hope.

Prayer: Abba, I look only to you today for hope, salvation, life, and direction. The jobs of yesterday were not part of your plan, and so I know there is something better waiting. Please remember your servant, the leper at your feet, so in need of your love, forgiveness, and mercy. You are my hope. Amen.
