The Way for the People

Scripture:
And a highway will be there;
    it will be called the Way of Holiness;
    it will be for those who walk on that Way.

The unclean will not journey on it;
    wicked fools will not go about on it.
Isaiah 35:8

Observation: The prior verses involve Messianic prophesy - the lame walk, the deaf hear, the blind see. And then The Way appears, just as Jesus called himself The Way and the faith of the early church was called The Way. So if this is a prophesy of the founding of the Church of Jesus Christ, what are the characteristics of the church? It is holy ... it exists for the believers and the unclean/wicked will not use it.

Application: I am too exhausted by "stuff" at church to really appreciate the church itself. I get wrapped up in issues about the people there, and end up caring more about people who aren't in the church yet instead. Isaiah says the church itself is for the members - to guide and protect believers.

I likely need to engage more with people at church. I need friends at church, especially those I can share time and burdens with. Mostly, I need to stop judging people at church by their mistakes, and see them as brothers and sisters who struggle like I do and can use assistance just like me.

Prayer: Lord, please do forgive my judgment. Continue to work within me to overcome my judgmental ways, guide me in humility and faith, so I may walk with you daily. Amen.
